The theme of this year’s Dolce & Gabbana men’s Fall fashion show was royalty, and while Kate Middleton and her brood did not grace the catwalk, the designers did find a way to incorporate the royals of today into their show.
Rather than just using a team of moody models, the brand decided to model their clothes on an endless supply of social media “influencers” and quasi-famous rich kids of Instagram.
Among them was Cameron Dallas, an adorable 22-year old with 17.5 million followers on Instagram and his own Netflix show, Jim Chapman, a British blogger, Tinie Tempah, a rapper, Presley Gerber, son of Cindy Crawford, Rafferty Law, son of Jude Law, model Jack Guinness, Brandon Thomas Lee, son of Pamela Anderson, Levi Dylan, grandson of Bob Dylan, Sofia Richie, Sistine and Sophia Stallone, daughters of Sylvester Stallone and last week’s Ms. Golden Globes and a slew of other Insta-famous teens.
While we aren’t sure how we feel about these famous kids getting a leg up in modeling (the same way they get a leg up in everything else), we have to say it is refreshing to see a runway that isn’t populated only by anorexic models. Perhaps this is the first step toward a more inclusive runway.
