Billionaire Russian oligarch splashes out millions for his 19-year-old granddaughter’s wedding

A Russian billionaire went all out — in typical billionaire fashion — this weekend, and paid more than $4 million to have Mariah Carey and Sir Elton John perform at his 19-year-old granddaughter’s London wedding.

The superstars headlined the extravagant bash after Irene Kogan, the granddaughter of businessman Valery Kogan, wed Daniel Kevey on Saturday at the swanky Landmark Hotel, the Daily Mail reports.

Mariah Carey dedicated her song “We Belong Together” to the young couple, in her first performance since that New Year’s Eve mishap in Times Square. While Sir Elton did a 12-song set. There was also a DJ set by Mark Ronson and, curiously, a speech from Antonio Banderas.

The couple dished out a nine-course meal to their guests which included tartare of yellow fin tuna, seared sea bass and roasted fillet of dry-aged beef.

Luxury cake designer Elizabeth Solaru provided the $124,000, 10-tier wedding cake which contained five different flavors, more than 1,000 duck eggs, and 10,000 handcrafted sugar flowers.

When @mariahcarey and @eltonjohn are the wedding singers at what has been deemed the wedding of the year at the @the_landmark_london (if not the decade) the cake just has to be a real showstopper. I woke up yesterday to see our cake in all the papers, online and on the news!!!! Thank you to our client for trusting us with such an important part of the wedding. #luxuryweddingcakes #billionaireweddings #russianweddings #tallweddingcakes #bigweddingcakes #elegantweddingcakes #weddingcakes #weddingcakeslondon #queenofcakes #cakesofinstagram #cakequeen #grandweddingcakes #destinationweddings #OPULENCIA #opulentweddingcakecakes #elizabethscakeemporium #russianweddingcakes #bestweddingcakes Image by Nek Vardikos of NV Wedding Documentary Photogeaphers
