Mingling with the president ain’t cheap.

The membership fee at Donald Trump’s “Winter White House,” the Mar-A-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, has just doubled from $100,000 to $200,000, according to CNBC.

This price jump is actually a return to what it was before 2012, when the price was cut to $100,000. That price cut was due to the Bernie Madoff scandal, when many Palm Beach regulars lost a considerable amount of money.

Still, the current price jump has ethics experts wondering how else the Trumps are going to profit off of the Donald’s presidency. Though Donald Trump has resigned his position as head of the Trump Organization and has put his assets in a trust controlled by his sons, he is still a frequent guest at the Mar-A-Lago and membership to the club is a sure way to gain access to him.

“This this type of naked profiteering off of a government office is what I would expect from King Louis XVI or his modern kleptocratic equivalents, not an American president,” said one of Obama’s top ethic lawyers. [CNBC]
