Astronomy and fashion are — how else can you say it — different worlds. But at this morning’s surprising and well attended New York Fashion Week: Men’s show at Skylight Studio in Clarkson Square those worlds collided.
When was the last time you say Bill Nye (aka the science guy) introduce a fashion show with a lecture on the possibility for life on Mars? Well, that is exactly what fashion’s early risers got this morning. Nye talked about spaceship earth, the discover of water on Mars, and his collection of bow ties by designer Nick Graham — the man behind this morning’s event.
After Nye, left the stage, models in space-age formal wear took the runway, showing off Graham’s latest. But it was the last model to hit the stage that got the selfie-obsessed crowd cheering. The Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin, 87, danced down the runway, hamming it up for the audience.
Soon after the second man to walk on the moon was joined by Graham and Nye on stage as David Bowie blasted over the speakers. It was a surreal scene. Check it put below.
