In between having nervous breakdowns and hanging out with Donald Trump, Kanye West has managed to find time to piss off all of the important people in the fashion industry.
No, it’s not because his Yeezy collection is — in a word — horrible. It’s because he refused to register his fashion show with the CFDA, which is leading to a scheduling nightmare.
All designers who wish to participate in Fashion Week are asked to work through the CFDA so that they can create a timetable that works for everyone and avoids two important designers scheduling their show at the same time.
Because Kanye did not consult the CFDA when he scheduled his show, it happens to be at the same time as the very important Marchesa show. He also did not schedule his show with the CFDA last year, but that show happened the day before Fashion Week officially began so it worked out.
Needless to say, the CFDA is not happy about this year’s scheduling conflict. Steven Kolb released the following statement in WWD: “Once again, CFDA was not approached or consulted about the possibility of Kanye West showing on the official New York fashion week schedule,” he said “This bad behavior is not acceptable to the CFDA and should not be tolerated by the industry. Because of this, the CFDA will not list Kanye West on the official schedule.”
Yikes! Though knowing Kanye, he’ll give his buddy Trump a call and have his show turned into a national holiday or something. [WWD]
