The 14th Annual New York Pet Fashion Show was everything: PHOTOS

In the bathroom on the 18th floor of the Hotel Pennsylvania across from Madison Square Garden, a man half dressed in a tribal outfit (little more than underwear) was struggling to pull on his fur leggings when he saw his precious puppy dart for the door. “Princess, no!” he yelled, hurriedly hopping half-naked after his costumed dog.

It sounds like a deleted scene from “Best in Show” but so did everything at the 14th Annual New York Pet Fashion Show last week.

Kicking off “Westminster Weekend” pet enthusiast gathered in the hotel’s ballroom dressed to match their flamboyant pets and hit the runway.

Many of the costumes reflected Broadway themes like Hamilton, Lion King, Wicked, Cats, Kinky Boots, Aladdin and Chicago.

More than a runway show, patron of the pet world were also honored during the surreal, high-energy event. Awards like the 2017 NY Pet Fashion Show Gold Paw Awards Humanitarian Award (received by Beth Shak-Leventhal), the Literary Book Award (received by Mark Winik from “The Dog Healers”) and Pet Storyteller of the Year ( received by Elias Friedman) were distributed to “the top dogs” of haute pet couture.

We cannot say enough about the terrific individuals who put this show on last night. @nypetfashionshow traditionally kicks off #NYFW bringing designers and brands together for a good cause. The exciting event gives fur fashionistas and their human counterparts an opportunity to have fun while the proceeds benefit shelter animals. We've volunteered with and adopted from shelters for many years. While stomping the runway and having our photo taken is awesome, we do not lose sight of the cause. We encourage anyone who can to adopt. We also encourage any of our amazing IG friends and family to get involved in any way you can next year! It's a scene and it's FUN! There's great vendors to shop (um, we spent some cash last night bc we couldn't resist the cuteness overload of style happening here) and opportunity in abundance to shop, promote or just come and ogle the adorableness. Hope to see you next year!
