Beauty power couple nabs pretty pad on the UES

Cynthia “Thia” Breen, Estée Lauder’s president for North America, and Laurie Dowley, senior VP of Elizabeth Arden, have just bought themselves an $8.6 million condo at the Robert A.M. Stern-designed 20 East End Avenue, city records show. They paid a little over the apartment’s $8.5 million ask.

The couple are evidently big fans of the neighborhood; they own two apartments nearby at 171 East 84th Street, and last month sold another pad at 90 East End Avenue for almost $3 million.

Their new 3,037-square-foot spread comes with three bedrooms, a library, 11-foot-high ceilings, herringbone oak floors, a chef’s kitchen with Brazilian quartzite countertops, marble bathrooms and a cast iron soaking tub. But alas, the listing doesn’t provide much in the way of pictures.

The building also offers a billiards room, a wine cellar that can fit 8,000 bottles, a children’s game room, a fitness center and spa, a sauna and a bike storage area.
