Recently built Upper East Side apartment mistaken for a century-old landmark

Not every new development is modern and glassy. With its limestone façade and vintage architectural accents, Touraine, a 15-story condo located on the corner of 65th and Lexington, recently completed by Toll Brothers, blends in seamlessly with its historic townhouse surroundings. It’s so convincing, in fact, then when the Daily News showed a picture of the building to a surveyor of historical properties, he believed the building dated as far back as 1915. The retro design has proved popular — only one of the 21 units remains on the market: A five-bedroom penthouse with an asking price of $17.5 million. Read the whole story here.
