And we thought Tommy Hilfiger’s lavishly decorated, $59-million apartment at the Plaza was out there. It turns out that apartment is a plain Jane compared to the designer’s home in Miami, which he has just listed for $27.5 million.
“We wanted it to be really unusual,” Hilfiger told the Wall Street Journal. In that he certainly succeeded; with designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Hilfiger and his wife, Dee Ocleppom renovated the home with lots of cute touches, like scratch-and-sniff wallpaper in the bathrooms, tons of contemporary artwork and bright colors everywhere.
“We did sort of a 60s-70s theme, with really a white canvas with splashes of color.”
Sadly, none of the artwork or furniture is included in the sale, but it has other fun features. It is 14,000 square feet, and has seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, an elevator, direct beach access, a swimming pool, and an outdoor entertaining area with a bar and grill.
If the home sells for the full asking price, it will be the most expensive sale in the neighborhood of Golden Beach, according to the listing brokers Jill Hertzberg and Jill Eber, of the Jills Real Estate Group. Hilfiger bought the house in 2013 for $17.25 million. [WSJ]
