Astoria bar nabs lot of rare whiskies

The cows just came home for Bowery Bay, a bar in Astoria. Each year tens of thousands of bars and liquor stories request bottles Buffalo Trace’s coveted Pappy Van Winkle line. But because of the limited numbers of bottles produced, very few shops and bars actually received a bottle — watch out for fakes. And even fewer receive the rarest bottle of them all — the Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 23 Year (which sells for $3000 a bottle online).

Eager to try some yourself? Well, get ready to spend. The bar is selling the 23 year old at $145 a pour. Still, it’s got nothing on the distillery’s newest label.  [DNAinfo]
