This is how the rich escape New York: VIDEO

It sure must be scary being rich. While some of NYC’s ultra-wealthy are pouring huge sums into home security or buying up swaths of New Zealand, others are investing in pricey escape plans.

Meet the ultimate way to escape from New York: a boat.

Plan B Marine is a marine evacuation service that bills itself as the speediest way off the island in case of an emergency, according to the New York Post.

“A lot of people don’t want to wait on a line to get on a ferry, and they don’t want to worry about walking off of Manhattan, as people had to do in the past,” Chris Dowhie, co-owner of Plan B Marine, told the Post. “They know a boat is the fastest way, and we take the worry out of maintaining and preparing and always readying your vessel.”

Whether it’s the weather or a terrorist attack, Plan B promises to whisk you and your family to safety at a moment’s notice.

“You don’t have a captain. You have to drive this boat yourself,” Dowhie says, noting that in a crisis a boat captain will be more concerned with their family than yours (an issue private jet owners face with their pilots).

The company offers Coast Guard vessels that are made to handle anything. But it isn’t cheap. The service carries an annual fee of $90,000 — apparently you can put a number on peace of mind. [NYP]
