Egyptian businessman from billionaire family lists unit at the Pierre for $18M

Ali Fayed, whose brother Mohammed is one of the richest people in the world, has just listed a co-op on the 19th floor of the Pierre hotel for $18 million, per StreetEasy records.

Fayed bought the apartment in two pieces in 2007; he paid $2.6 million for unit 1901, and $7.6 million for unit 1902, which he bought from NYU. According to the listing, with Paula Del Nunzio of Brown Harris Stevens, the apartment has two bedrooms, three bathrooms, 10-foot ceilings, sweeping views of Central Park and a library.

Ali Fayed’s brother, Mohammed, formerly owned Harrod’s department store in London, and currently owns the Hôtel Ritz in Paris. According to Forbes, his net worth is estimated to be $1.8 billion, and he is ranked as the 959th richest person in the world. Mohammed’s son, Dodi, was engaged to Princess Diana and was killed in the same car crash as her in Paris in 1997.

Ali Fayed owns the famous Savile Row haberdashery, Turnbull & Asser. His sons, Liam and Sam, own the Bespoken clothing store on 57th Street.
