People in Aspen aren’t the only ones irritated by the Trumps; Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner’s neighbors in the Kalorama neighborhood of D.C. aren’t so thrilled by their presence either.
The problems began, according to the Washington Post, when Secret Service started parking their cars on the block and posted “No Parking” signs in front of the house. But the most unforgiveable sin happened when the Secret Service installed a “No Parking” sign in front of their next door neighbor’s house.
“I started screaming,” that neighbor told the Washington Post. She wrote emails to the mayor and eventually, the signs were taken down.
Still, not everyone is satisfied. “They’ve completely taken over the whole street — as if they have the authority!” said another neighbor who lives across the street from the couple and who happens to be an Obama appointee to the U.S. Product Safety Commission (Obama and his family are moving nearby). She wrote in her own letter to the mayor that the Secret Service “has truly ruined my peaceful enjoyment of my house.”
“It is every bit as disruptive as if a very active business was allowed to come into this residential neighborhood.”
Parking in the neighborhood was already difficult, due to a nearby mosque, but now residents say it is impossible. “If you happen to miss that moment before the spaces get filled, you’re dead,” Trump and Kushner’s neighbor said. “We were a nice, quiet residential community and we’ve become a neighborhood where people take pictures.” [WP]
