Tom Valenti, the head chef at Le Cirque, has resigned. It’s another major blow for the restaurant known for its society crowd and people watching. The resignation comes as both Le Cirque and Circo filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The owners of Le Cirque owe between $500,000 and $1 million to more than 100 creditors, according to the filings cited by Eater.
“I wish the Maccioni family only the best,” Valenti told Eater, adding that he doesn’t know his next move.
Valenti — the man behind shuttered restaurants Ouest and West Branch — took charge of the restaurant in January.
Co-owner Mauro Maccioni says both restaurant will stay open. [Eater]
