Alan Cumming to open cabaret bar in Eastern Bloc space

Now that Alan Cumming has moved into his newly renovated East Village townhouse, he can focus on the important things in life: opening a bar.

The Scottish actor is teaming up with Anderson Cooper’s boyfriend, Benjamin Maisani, as well as Darren Dryden and Daniel Nardicio, to open an East Village nightclub called “Club Cumming,” which is expected to open in September in the space currently occupied by the popular gay bar Eastern Bloc.

If the name “Club Cumming” sounds familiar, it’s because Cumming has operated an informal version of it for years at Studio 54 and in his “Cabaret” dressing room (Fishs Eddy even sells Club Cumming-themed dish ware).

The new bar “will be a mixture of performance, DJs [and] theme nights and as eclectic and unexpected as Alan himself,” his rep told Page Six.

“Alan wants it to be a home for everyone of all ages, all genders, all sexualities, who all enjoy letting go and making some mischief. No judgments, no attitude, no rules, except kindness, acceptance and fun.” Sounds like a party to us! [NYP]
