Jay Z’s newly released limited edition bubbly will set you back $850

Jay Z wants you to pop some very expensive and limited edition bottles: the rapper’s fave champers goes on sale April 18 for $850 a bottle. With only 2,333 bottles of Blanc de Noirs Assemblage Two (A2) available stateside, those with cash to spend better seize the opportunity to snag some quickly. According to Armand de Brignac chief executive Sebastien Besson A2 is already selling fast. “Many of the A2 bottles have already been preordered from Armand de Brignac’s top clients. We anticipate they may only be available for a few months.”

But is it worth it? If the the inaugural Assemblage One, is any indication, the answer is yes. It was said to be the number one Blanc de Noirs in the world according to “Fine Champagne Magazine,” which touted it for its “complexity and nuance.” Nicknamed “Ace of Spades” for the flashy logo on the bottle, it was initially mentioned by Hova’s in his 2006 rap song, “Show Me What You Got.”

Afterwards, Jay Z bought the champagne from Sovereign Brands in 2014 out of what might be thought of as spite. After rapping about his love of Cristal for years, once he read an interview with that brand’s managing director which was derogatory towards rappers, the Grammy winner was disheartened. In his 2009 song, “On to the Next One” he rhymes, ” I used to drink Cristal, the muh-fucker’s racist. So I switched gold bottles on to that Spade shit.” The rest is history, but apparently, revenge, much like champagne, is best served cold.

For those who prefer to imbibe out on the town, it will be available at high-end bars and clubs in New York and Los Angeles, including Jay Z’s 40/40 Club in New York, where Armand de Brignac’s champagnes retail for between $400 and $1,000 a bottle. [CNBC]
