After 18 years, Trump Model Management is shutting down , according to a leaked email from the New York-based office acquired by Mother Jones.
“The Trump Organization is choosing to exit the modeling industry,” president Corinne Nicolas allegedly wrote in the email. “On the heels of the recent sale of the Miss Universe Organization, the company is choosing to focus on their core businesses in the real estate, golf and hospitality space. Trump Models, during its 18-year run, was an amazing success and we are immensely proud of the opportunities that we have provided to so many talented individuals.”
The Trump Organization sold the Miss Universe Organization to the talent agency WME-IMG over a year ago, following the US President’s racist remarks about Mexicans, according to Esquire.
A lot has been written about Trump models since Trump announced his run for president. Michael Gross suggested it was a rather sordid scene. While one model shrugged at her experience to Business Insider:
“It’s regular fashion business s— that you have to put up with. The experience I had with Trump Models … wasn’t different from experiences I’ve had with other places and other agencies. Agencies … fabricate a very beautiful story, and tempt you with it — it works well when you’re younger.” [Mother Jones | Esquire]
