Shopping for a Prada gown? Why not check out Walmart?
We’re not joking. As the Observer noticed, the discount retailer — whose slogan is “Save Money, Live Better” — has quite a few designer duds for sale on its website. And while the goods aren’t asking the same prices as they would in, say, Barney’s, they aren’t exactly cheap.
A red, sparkly Reem Acra dress, for example, is asking $1,798; a pair of pink suede Gucci espadrilles is $798 (down from its $1,150 listing price!); a Fendi peekaboo python bag is $4,795 (it is described thus: “When your bag game is on point, people take notice. All photos of the item were taken in-house to give you the most detail possible. Get noticed and stand out in your surroundings with this multi-color bag by Fendi. Featuring a 4 inch strap drop, this bag is made of the finest python materials for the complete package of luxury, style, class and usability”).
Of course, as anyone who’s ever used Amazon can guess, Walmart itself is not actually selling these items, they are from third-party retailers, who sell overstock designer goods all over the internet.
It’s still a little funny, though, to see a Céline bag photographed next to material for a conveyor belt. One stop shopping indeed! [Observer]
