Trump wants to be Cinderella and ride in a golden carriage when he goes to England

It seems Cinderella-obsessed little girls aren’t the only ones who dream of one day riding in a golden carriage to meet a prince.

President Donald Trump has reportedly requested that he too ride in Queen Elizabeth II’s golden state carriage during his upcoming visit to Buckingham Palace.

And no, this is not a suggestion; Trump is insisting on the carriage. The Times of London quotes British officials saying, “The White House has made clear it regards the carriage procession down the Mall as an essential element of the itinerary for the visit currently planned for the second week of October.”

The Times reports that the ride Trump wants to take would be a security nightmare, because the rickety-old carriage — unlike the Presidential motorcade — “would not be able to put up much resistance in the face of a rocket propelled grenade or high-powered ammunition. Armor-piercing rounds would make a very bad show of things.”

Why is the ride so important to Trump? We can think of a few reasons: it’s his favorite color and his favorite material; it’s like a truck only shinier; Obama didn’t ride in it, so he has to. But most importantly, because Putin once took it for a spin. [Times of London]
