(note: this is not the contested photo)
Considering the number of pics the Kardashian crew posts on Instagram, we would think they would know by now never to post someone else’s copyrighted photo. But Khloe Kardashian is being accused of doing just that.
People magazine reported that the youngest Kardashian sister is being sued for $150,000 for allegedly posting a copyrighted pic snapped of her and her sister taken by a paparazzi agency, Xposure Photos. Apparently in September, a papp snapped a shot of Khloe and a sister dining out in Miami’s Komodo restaurant. The lawsuit claims Khloe copied the photo, removed the copyright info and posted it to her Instagram account.
Because the U.K. agency feels they could have made mad cash from the pic had Kardashian not posted it, they are taking the “Keeping up with the Kardashian’s” star to court.
The legal document states: “Kardashian’s Instagram post made the photograph immediately available to her nearly 67 million followers and others, consumers of entertainment news — and especially news and images of Kardashian herself, as evidenced by their status as followers of Kardashian — who would otherwise be interested in viewing licensed versions of the photograph in the magazines and newspapers that are plaintiff’s customers.”
While there has been no comment from team Kardashian as of yet, the whole mess certainly gives new meaning to the phrase, “Say cheese.” [People]
