Every year on the first Monday in May, the Met Gala marks the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit.
This year, the theme of the Gala — and of the exhibit — is focused on the work of Rei Kawakubo, the founder of Comme des Garçons.
Last night’s red carpet featured a plethora of different, eye-catching looks. Rihanna stuck to the theme by wearing an avant-garde Comme des Garçons look while models like Lily-Rose Depp wore structured, feminine ball gowns.
Other stars like Jennifer Lopez, Blake Lively, Emmy Rossum, Miranda Kerr and Hailey Baldwin also wore show-stopping looks to the gala.
See the crème de la crème for yourself:
@badgalriri’s #MetGala look was a full-on fashion fantasy. Celebrating the @metcostumeinstitute’s exhibition “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between,” the singer wore a @CommedesGarcons look, straight off the Fall 2016 runway, that was an architectural wonder.
