There are certain restaurants where the food is just as glamorous as the social scene. Case in point: Nobu Matsuhisa’s eponymous Nobu restaurant.
Known for its five-star cuisine and decadent Japanese-inspired interiors, you’re likely to spot a Kardashian at this California go-to. The LA-based sushi bar is such a celebrity staple, it’s even name-dropped in three Drake songs and a Kanye track. That said, the opening of their luxury hotel Nobu Ryokan Malibu is bound to attract a star-studded guest list.
Overlooking Carbon Beach along the Pacific Coast Highway, the lodge draws from the area’s laidback California style while boasting Nobu’s signature Japanese design.
The building’s original structure was a 1950’s beach motel, which architects Studio PCH and Montalba Architects have dramatically transformed. Each guest room has its own unique interior design, all incorporating teak, bronze, and limestone to maintain a calming neutral color palette throughout.
It wouldn’t be a Nobu venture if it didn’t include exceptional cuisine, so guests can have an intimate dining experience at Nobu Malibu, which is situated right next door. Guests will also find an onsite racquet club, fitness room, relaxation deck, and private beach access.
