I’m dreaming of a bright penthouse … just like the one Irving Berlin used to own, and which has now hit the market asking $7.9 million.

The unit at 130 East End Avenue is a duplex with a sweeping staircase (and fabulous black and white floors), two bedrooms, four bathrooms, views of Carl Schulz Park and the East River, a wood-burning fireplace, a landscaped wraparound terrace and another terrace on the second floor.

Berlin lived in the apartment from 1931 until 1943. He wrote many beloved songs and musicals, including a number of Christmas songs like “White Christmas” (though he was Jewish), “God Bless America,” “Annie Get Your Gun,” “Putting on the Ritz” and “There’s No Business Like Show Business.”

Per city records, the apartment is currently owned by Hamilton F. Kean, an attorney and the son of a New Jersey Congressman with the same name. Jane Andrews of Warburg Realty has the listing.
