An East Hampton property is on the market for the first time since the late 1960s, with a $26.5 million price tag.

The property sits on more than two acres, and boasts a 3,300-square-foot, four-bedroom home, a 2,000-square-foot three-bedroom guest cottage and two one-acre lots that overlook Hook Pond.

Richard Ayer III, whose grandmother, Betty Richards, bought the two lots of land in 1967, told the Wall Street Journal that the family is looking to buy a site nearby. Ayer and his wife, Claire, are currently based in Morocco. Their three children work in Paris and New York. The summer home has functioned as a steady base for an otherwise international family.

“For me, East Hampton is my summer,” Ayer told the Wall Street Journal. “Even though the children have spent more of each year outside America, they regard East Hampton as their family home.”

Angela Boyer-Stump of Sotheby’s International Realty is the listing broker, according to the Wall Street Journal. She also has the listing for a separately owned lot next door. All three lots, which total 3.2 acres, could go for as much as $34.7 million. [WSJ] — Claire Moses
