Feminist icon Gloria Steinem is the buyer of a new pad at 118 East 73rd Street, per city records.
She paid $1.1 million for the unit — slightly over its $975,000 asking price. The third-floor walk-up has one bedroom, one bathroom, glorious built-in bookshelves, high ceilings and two fireplaces. According to city records, Steinem also owns units on the first and second floors of the building. Kelly Pieper and Susan Forrest-Reynolds of William Raveis Real Estate have the listing.
Steinem is the co-founder of “Ms.” magazine and is famous for her journalistic work, including her 1963 exposé for “Show” magazine when she went undercover as a “Playboy” bunny. More recently, she has been an outspoken critic of Donald Trump and was one of the organizers of the Woman’s March on Washington the day after his inauguration.
She was also recently criticized for comments she made on Bill Maher’s late-night show when asked about female Bernie Sanders supporters, “When you’re young, you’re thinking, ‘Where are the boys? The boys are with Bernie.'” She later apologized for her statement.
