Call it the house that pasta built. Riccardo Barilla (as in Barilla pasta) has just listed his family home in Vandoeuvres, Switzerland for an astounding 70 million Swiss Francs (about $72 million), according to the Wall Street Journal.
Like all the best homes, this one has a name: Domaine Pré Saint Jean. It was bought by Riccardo’s parents in the 1970’s, after they sold their stake in the pasta biz and moved from Italy to Switzerland. When Riccardo and his wife inherited the house a few years back, they renovated it to make it more contemporary (as you can see from the photos).
The 9,470-square-foot main house has views of Mont Blanc, four bedrooms and the home’s original wine cellar. There’s also a guesthouse on the property, with an additional five bedrooms, and a former stable that acts as living quarters for the staff. Potential buyers would also have the option to build at least two more structures on the property. [WSJ]
