The Ritz Carlton wants you to sail into luxury

Get ready to sail into luxury: Ritz Carlton just debuted a new cruise line.  The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is a fleet of three custom-built boats that the brand hopes will replace the concept of cruising as low rent and replace it with a high-end yacht experience.

The three yachts, available for private charter,  will be able to accommodate 298 people in 149 suites with private balconies.

Destinations will include the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America. The ships will have the ability to dock in tony areas like Capri, Portofino and St. Barths, which tend to be off limits to larger cruise ships.

“We will be one of the smallest, ultra-luxury cruise ships in the market… and we’re hoping to attract those who wouldn’t consider a mainstream cruise, but would entertain a highly-curated yacht style experience,” the Ritz’s president and COO, Herve Humler told Town & Country.  “Through collaborations with local chefs, musicians, and artists, guests will get to experience the locations in unique and experiential ways, both onboard and ashore.

The first vessel isn’t anticipated to set sail until 2019, but we already can’t wait to “sea!” [T&C]
