Former Italian ambassador lists CPW apartment for $3.5M

An Upper West Side apartment owned by Giovanni Castellaneta, a former ambassador to the United States from Italy, has just hit the market asking $3.5 million, per StreetEasy records.

The unit is located in the Century condo building at 25 Central Park West. Per city records, Castellaneta paid $1.7 million for it in 2010 under the Gila LLC. His wife, Lila Castellaneta, signed the documents, city records show.

Castellaneta was the ambassador to the US from 2005 until 2009 (in addition to holding the slightly creepy title of Permanent Observer to the Organization of American States), and has also served as the Italian ambassador to Iran, Australia and the Pacific Islands. He currently serves as Chairman of Bizzi & Partners Development and Milanosesto Spa.

This apartment is a one-bedroom, one and a half bathroom unit with 884 square feet of space. It comes with views of Central Park the George Washington bridge and Lincoln Center. Marian Levitt of Douglas Elliman has the listing.
