There’s something rotten in the state of Denmark (and it’s the prince)

This is the kind of story that makes us kind of glad not to be royal.

Prince Henrik of Denmark has reportedly refused to be buried with his wife of 50 years, Queen Margrethe, because he’s angry he never got to be a king. The couple was supposed to be buried together in a specially-designed sarcophagus at the Roskilde Cathedral.

“It is no secret that the prince for many years has been unhappy with his role and the title he has been awarded in the Danish monarchy,” the Royal Danish House’s director of communications told the Danish tabloid BT.

“For the prince, the decision not to be buried beside the queen is the natural consequence of not having been treated equally to his spouse – by not having the title and role he has desired.”

Of all the people out there we feel sorry out there, a spoiled prince who never got to be king and had to deal with the fact that his wife is more powerful than him is very, very low on the list. If Queen Elizabeth is drinking four cocktails a day, we can’t imagine how many Queen Margrethe needs to get through hers with that charmer by her side.
