When fashion designer Alexander Wang sold his Tribeca loft at 39 Worth Street last August, we weren’t sure where he had moved. Was it possible that the king of Downtown had taken a cue from fellow designer Zac Posen and moved Uptown?
Alas, no. It turns out the hip, happening dude moved to West Chelsea — Foster Partners’ 551 West 21st Street, to be exact — where he shelled out a hair under $8 million for a three-bedroom, three-bathroom pad with a terrace in October, according to city records.
He recently showed off his new apartment and the interiors he designed in collaboration with Ryan Korban to Architectural Digest (who is designing the interiors at a new building at 40 Bleecker Street). “It was time for a grown-up apartment that had a view, separate rooms, and a little outdoor space—something more cozy and intimate,” Wang told AD.
Korban convinced him to give up all of the furniture he had before and start from scratch. Among the new features they added are suede walls, dining room chairs covered in mink and a Nero Marquina marble mantel fireplace. Head to AD for photos of the renovation.
