With fashion week just around the corner, New York and Paris won’t be the only places displaying this year’s trends. Marrakech is taking a stab at some high fashion views as well.
This summer, Paris was flooded with high fashion museum displays including installations of Christian Dior and Balenciaga all over the city.
But in October, Paris will be teaming up with a sister museum in Marrakech, Morocco to honor the late designer Yves Saint Laurent.
Pierre Bergé, Saint Laurent’s partner in love and business, told the Observer that Marrakech had a huge influence on the designer’s life and inspired his discovery of colors.
A 43,000-square-foot terracotta building will display some of the designer’s most iconic pieces, including the safari jacket and the Le Smoking suit. There will be a sister display in Paris sampling similar styles.
The exhibition can be described as a portrait of the designer and his influences from the city.
