“Glamping” in NYC: Memory foam beds by the campfire

At the intersection between wilderness campsites and five-star resorts, we’ve found glamping.

Glamping has been a travel trend for years, and now it’s available at a recently restored site at Fort Tilden, a stone’s throw from the Rockaways’ hipster haven of Jacob Riis.

Campers can stay in spacious, pre-built tents (no hammering down stakes with a rock over here!) and sleep in a queen-sized memory foam bed. Bathroom-shower trailers are available, along with a continental breakfast and nightly s’mores! It really is the best of both worlds.

Terra Glamping is the company bringing all of this together. They’ve built glampsites all over Northern California, and are now bringing their talents to the East Coast.

Guests can bring their own food to grill by the campfire for dinner, while still having a place to charge their iPhones by their beds for just $200 a night. It’s a great getaway for a busy city-person, in need of some dirt-free nature love. [Forbes]
