“Few parts of Italy, if any, are reckoned to be more delightful than the seacoast between Reggio and Gaeta,” the Italian author Giovanni Boccaccio wrote in his 14th century book “Decameron.”

Six hundred years later, Boccaccio’s words about that area — known as the Amalfi Coast — still hold true. For proof, just look at this villa, Torre Di Civita, which recently hit the market with Sotheby’s International Real Estate for $54 million.

Is it possible to imagine a more charming estate than this one? A former monastery, the home was reportedly once owned by a Neapolitan prince, and later gifted to a bride by her mother in the 1950’s.

Since then, the home, which spans 10,387 square feet, has been totally updated and now features brand new gym facilities and a swimming pool. Of course, there are still many historical details left, including the 1,000-year-old watchtower that serves as the supremely funky master suite.

The estate also has three additional guesthouses, vineyards, orchards, and vegetable gardens. And it’s all perched upon four acres of land, situated on a mountainside that offers incredible views from all sides.

Certainly, the place is fit for a prince — or more likely, a Russian billionaire.
