Iconic Norman Rockwell painting sets world record

Norman Rockwell, the wholesome satirist of everyday life in American, is surprising hot. Twice in the last three months, the auction record for a Rockwell painting has been obliterated.

In May, a 1960 painting by Rockwell called “Triple Self Portrait” received a bid $1.3 million. Now, “Tough Call,” the best known of Rockwell’s baseball-themed works has sold for a record setting $1.6 million.

Previously, the record for a Rockwell painting belonged to “Breaking Home Ties,” whichsold at Sotheby’s in 2013 for $905,000, according to Robb Report.
