Actress, singer and songwriter Better Midler — also known by her moniker the Divine Miss M — is on the hunt for a divine new pad, a source told Luxury Listings NYC. Midler toured penthouse 1A at the I.M. Pei-designed Centurion at 33 West 56th Street last Wednesday — a home that’s on the market for $16.8 million.

It’s not immediately clear whether Midler will buy the 3,365-square-foot spread, which is the only full-floor home in the building, but it would be a bit of a homecoming if she did. Midler, who could not be immediately reached for comment, used to perform a cabaret act in a nightclub called the Downstairs and the Upstairs that formerly stood on the site of the Centurion.

The penthouse has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and three exposures. The master suite opens onto a 192-square-foot terrace space. Its windowed bathroom has polished marble flooring, marble vanities and city views to the north, according to the listing. Other amenities include a living room with gallery walls, an eat-in kitchen with custom walnut cabinetry, and en-suite bathrooms for the other bedrooms.

New York Residence President Thomas Guss, who is the sales director at the Centurion, said it’s easy to see why Midler took a tour of the home. “The building is the home of several celebrities who specifically chose it for the high level of privacy and discretion it offers,” he said.

The Centurion nabbed headlines in January when the combination of its three penthouses returned to the market after a brief break with a $39 million ask. — Zachary Kussin
