Developers are offering increasingly elaborate amenities to attract high-end buyers, a trend that has extended past Manhattan and into the outer boroughs. Some of the more outrageous frills on offer include doggie swimming pools, rooftop beaches and bowling alleys.
“This is part of the luxury lifestyle in New York,” Ryan Serhant, the “Million Dollar Listing New York” star who is marketing a $23 million penthouse at the “sky garage” condominium building at 200 11th Avenue, told the New York Post. “If you’re spending this much to buy an apartment, you expect to have better amenities than your friends.”
At TF Cornerstone’s 45-45 Center Boulevard in Long Island City, for example, the developer is including a 50,000-square-foot deck with tennis courts, a volleyball court, a reflecting pool and a dog run at the 41-story rental building.
And at a 351-unit rental building at Williamsburg’s 101 Bedford Avenue, residents can pay $600 a year to avail themselves of a rooftop beach, an amphitheater and a giant chess board. [NYP] – Hiten Samtani
