Ralph Lauren’s first New York restaurant is about to debut on 1 East 55th Street and Fifth Avenue, just a few steps away from the Midtown flagship store, which opened in September, the New York Times reports.
Slated to open by the end of the month and counting roughly 180 seats, Polo Bar’s décor will resemble Lauren’s laid-back style, featuring equestrian paintings and trophies on its walls.
The menu focuses on traditional American food – such as burgers, corned beef sandwiches, steaks and crab cakes. “The food you’re going to come here for is really the best I can do,” Mr. Lauren said. “It’s not about a fancy chef.”
The Polo Bar will be Lauren’s third, adding to the RL restaurant next to the brand’s Chicago flagship on Michigan Avenue, and the most recent Parisian opening, Ralph’s, on Boulevard Saint-Germain. The Polo Bar will also join Ralph’s Coffee, on the second floor of the Fifth Avenue flagship store. [NYT] — Lucia De Stefani
