Act now, and maybe nab a Hamptons summer rental

It’s still winter, but if you’re planning to rent a Hamptons summer spread, the time to act is now.

“Make your offer and get it over with,” Anthony DeVivio, Halstead Property’s managing director of the Hamptons, told the New York Post, adding that his office already has 12 rentals booked.

And although booking early secures your spot, don’t expect a bargain. Brokers told the Post that prices are now generally on par with last year. And while 2014 wasn’t a record year for rentals like, it was strong. For instance, a Southampton property rented for $1 million for just one month.

“You either come early and get your pick, or you play Russian roulette,” Paul Brennan, Douglas Elliman’s regional manager for the Hamptons, said. [NYP]Christopher Cameron
