California-based couple Shelly and Avi Osadon are building a luxury spec home with some pretty impressive amenities that they hope will fetch their $35 million.
The Beverly Hills home features a custom chandelier with 25 handblown glass balls for the entryway, $5,000 “hands-free” toilets with heated seats in most of the home’s 10 bathrooms and $350 electric toothbrushes custom designed by “dentist to the stars” Jon Marashi, according to the Wall Street Journal.
And they aren’t the only ones. Across the country developers are building lavish spreads on prime lots on spec. “Everybody wants new,” says Carmen D’Angelo, the listing agent for the Osadon’s home. “If I had five or six more of these, I’d sell six more.”
Brokers told the Journal that the surge reflects a luxury housing market that is reaching new heights, fueled in part by overseas investors. [WSJ] –Christopher Cameron
