From “Dirty Dancing” to yoga

No one puts baby in a corner — except maybe her yoga instructor.

Bloomberg reports that an Indian billionaire has bought the resort in the Catskills that inspired “Dirty Dancing,” and has plans to turn it into a $250 million yoga center for rich people who need to get away from it all. Subhash Chandra is the chairman of Essel Group worth $2.8 billion, and apparently, his goal in life is to make Americans thinner. “It’s a very well-known fact that this country needs help in the health and wellness space,” he told Bloomberg “I hope I’m not politically wrong in mentioning that.”

The resort, Kutsher’s Country Club, is one of many in the “Jewish Alps,” where Jewish New Yorkers used to flee for vacation when the city became unbearably hot (including my parents, but sadly I never met my Patrick Swayze).
