Legendary nightlife photographer Patrick McMullan posed for a few photographs himself on Thursday evening at a party for his art collection, currently showing at the Salomon Contemporary gallery in Chelsea.

The work on display is not McMullan’s own, but rather his impressive collection of photography from other masters like David LaChapelle, Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, Steven Klein, Peter Beard, Harry Benson, Mary Ellen Mark, Todd Eberle, Kelly Klein, Michael Thomson, Roe Etheridge, Jessica Craig-Martin, Scavullo and Salgad. It’s all pretty great, but run to see it if you’re interested; the exhibit closes on Friday.

McMullan made his name in the 80s, photographing the rich and beautiful at evening events throughout the city and in the Hamptons, and was a good friend of Andy Warhol, who once said about him, “If you don’t know Patrick McMullan, you ought to get out more!”

McMullan’s work has been exhibited quite a few times before; the East Hampton gallery The Maidstone showed his snaps in 2013. And in 2014, his photos of Hearst fashion editors were on display in the Hearst Tower (like a very nice company Facebook page).
