Rich people have no idea that the rest of us poor schmucks are not like them, a new study published in Psychological Science reports. The wealthy, it seems, only hang out with other wealthy people and live in a cocoon of rich things (we can assume they just think all the waiters/maids/personal shoppers/dog walkers/life coaches/manicurists they employ are just fairy people who exist only to do their bidding). That’s to say, they have no idea that there is a world where people clip coupons to buy food.
And because they somehow think that we’re all living the Rich Kids of Instagram life, they tend to be opposed to redistribution programs from the government. So it’s not that rich people don’t care about poor people, it’s that they don’t even recognize that they exist. Now that’s cold.
