Food meets art at upcoming Sotheby’s event

Pretty food tastes better.
Pretty food tastes better.

While there is not much that could make Shake Shack taste better, a Shake Shack concoction inspired by an Andy Warhol painting does sound pretty cool.

That dream is going to be a reality at The Art of Food event, taking place in October at Sotheby’s on the Upper East Side. 25 restaurants (all of which have a location on the Upper East Side) will create a dish for the event inspired in some way by a piece of art from Sotheby’s upcoming auction. Among those restaurants participating are Le Cirque, Café Boulud, and the newest venture of celebrity chef Michael White (who is also co-hosting the event), Vaucluse.

Upcoming LLNYC cover star, Nicole Miller, is co-hosting the event with White, and while Miller told us that isn’t sure exactly how she’ll bring fashion to the event she is contemplating making “skirts out of lettuce.” Considering eating lettuce is what it takes to look good in most fashionable clothes, her idea seems pretty apt.

Also, now might be the perfect time to revisit LLNYC’s sit down with one of Manhattan’s hottest chef, Geoffrey Zakarian.
