Man spends $75 million on a birthday cake

We cover a lot of crazy rich people news here, but this story might actually, literally, take the cake. A man in the United Arab Emirates paid $75 million for — you guessed it — a cake!

Made by British designer Debbie Wingham who became famous for making a $17 million dress, the cake was for the man’s daughter’s engagement/birthday party (how economical of her to combine the two events!). The reason it’s so expensive is that it is literally covered in diamonds. Rare, expensive diamonds. In fact, 17 of them alone are worth $45 million (there are a total of 4,000 diamonds on the cake). Just make sure you don’t swallow any! It also took 1,100 hours to make this strange concoction, which depicts a runway show happening in exquisite and painstaking detail.

How did it taste? Wingham told CNBC the cake was made from, “Madagascan vanilla bean with mascarpone cream and strawberry conserve,” while the runway on it was done in “triple Belgium chocolate with chocolate ganache and chocolate truffle cream.”

Sounds good, but considering each bite cost like a hundred thousand dollars, we think they would have been better off buying Demi Moore’s penthouse in the San Remo and eating Entenmann’s in it.
