Walker Tower’s crown jewel penthouse has gone into contract for just under the $55 million asking price — after a month on the market.
If the deal at the JDS Development- and Property Markets Group-built conversion at 212 West 18th Street closes, it would set a new record for a condominium price Downtown, topping the $42 million close at 18 Gramercy Park and a $47 million deal for the penthouse at 56 Leonard, which has not yet closed.
Douglas Elliman’s Vickey Barron, who took her exclusive marketing assignment at Walker Tower with her when she departed brokerage CORE Group for Elliman earlier this year, described the 6,000-square-foot, five-bedroom pad as the “cream of the crop.” The unit hit the market in late September, asking $55 million.
Among the top-floor home’s features are harbor and 360-degree unobstructed Manhattan views, 479 square feet of outdoor space, 13-foot coffered ceilings and heated flooring throughout. [NYT] — Julie Strickland
