Alert for all NYC party animals; according to the New York Times, you no longer have to head downtown to pop bottles and get your dance groove on. Nestled in midtown among office buildings and Times Square, PHD Terrace is a newly-opened bar atop the Dream Hotel Midtown. The “chic” drinking spot appears to be quickly becoming a new beacon in the night for the older, afterwork crowd. As Mark Strauss, the venue’s managing director explains, “we’re infusing it with our brand of downtown cool.”
And clearly its creators understand how to brand a club. It is the second PHD outpost — the first is atop the Dream Hotel in Chelsea — created by the Tao Group of other famed nightlife meccas Tao, Lavo and Marquee.
Although enclosed in winter, the rooftop is laden with foliage and plenty of spots to cozy up with your crew. Downstairs the rhythm is sure to get you dancing, especially if Drake and Future are your jams; a D.J. “played Drake songs, Future songs and songs featuring both Drake and Future.”
If that isn’t enough of an allure to get you running to West 55th Street, the crowd of professionals might be even more enticing. A 35-year old grey-suited man from the financial sector indicated the place was so hot he could not tear himself away even though the crowd tends to thin at midnight, “I’m a degenerate, so I’m still here,” he said.
We can smell the Axe body spray from here.
