Elijah Wood deejayed, DiCaprio ate foie gras and Lenny Kravitz tagged a wall: Night 1 at Art Basel

One down four nights to go, and everyone is already exhausted. Art Basel kicked off with a bang last night, drawing out the usual suspects to the usually tony venues.

Last night, developer Alan Faena and investor Len Blavatnik feted over dinner at the Faena Hotel & District with Leonardo DiCaprio, producer Harvey Weinstein, director Brett Ratner, actress Kelly Lynch, producer Mitch Glazer, curator Mario Testino, and collector/ “businesswoman” Dasha Zhukova (she’s the wife of Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich). The crowd enjoyed shell sculptures, foie gras, lobster and a battalion of waiters decked out in Alexander McQueen, according to the New York Post.

Those outside the exclusive dinner partied next to Damien Hirst’s $15 million sculpture “Gone but not Forgotten,” while Rossy de Palma, star of “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown,” preformed in giant black feathers. Elsewhere artist Mr. Brainwash entertained Paris Hilton, Alex Von Furstenberg, hotelier Jason Pomeranc and Jamie Foxx at Wall. DiCaprio even turned up at some point, PageSix notes.

Meanwhile Lenny Kravitz caused a bit of a stir when he spray painted a black arrow on the wall of a Design District gallery owned by Craig Robins. No word yet on what is sold for. At Surf Lodge’s South Beach outpost Pamela Anderson was spotted with Miami drag queen Elaine Lancaster. And at the Brickell Center, Elijah Wood joined Zach Cowie to DJ under the name Wooden Wisdom next to Allen Jones’ 20-foot-high, six-ton sculpture “Dancers.”

And all that is about one-fifth of what went down. We’re guessing half of these names disappear for guest lists before the week is through.
