Today in totally-unnecessary-products- for-rich-people-news, we present the new limited edition cocktail hamper from none other than Rolls Royce. Though the press release does not specify a price, the Daily News reports that it’s going for $45,000.
Is it slightly strange that a car company came out with a product designed for drinking alcohol? In any other case, yes, but somehow we think the person who buys this is not driving himself. Designed for the customer who wants to “relax and enjoy something a little beyond the traditional glass of Champagne,” the hamper takes about eight weeks to build out of the same walnut wood and leather that is used in some Rolls Royce cars.
What exactly justifies its crazy price? Well obviously it’s super fancy and has things like a paring knife that magnetically attaches to the inside so that it doesn’t move around. There’s also a light that turns on when you open the box, drawers for dishes, recipe cards and cotton napkins, tumblers and decanters, glasses made by the German glass factory Theresienthal (which take one month to take and are finished in platinum, because why not), and a book with cocktail recipes for when you actually want to drink.
“This beautifully executed Cocktail Hamper illustrates the marque’s intimate understanding of the desires of the most discerning patrons of luxury in the world; Rolls-Royce customers,” said Gavin Hartley, Head of Bespoke Design, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in a press release.
Only 15 of the hampers are being made, so if you want one, you better act fast!
