Even in first class, watching 12 hours of “Everybody Loves Raymond” re-runs can get a bit boring on your trip to Maui. Thankfully, the good people of Windspeed Technologies have developed the ultimate solution to that 1%-er problem: Skydeck is a mini glass room on top of the plane from which you have 360 degree views of everything happening all around you.
According to the company, Skydeck is “the next exciting experiential in-flight entertainment for VIP aircraft owners and the airline industry.” Ooh la la. They propose either putting it atop private planes or on top of commercial planes so that airlines can charge poor suckers extra for the experience. Because there aren’t enough extra charges already.
The company claims that the Skydeck is totally safe and designed to withstand anything the plane encounters (including something scary called “birdstrike impact loads”). And it looks like the closest thing we humans possibly have to pretending we can fly.
It’s also a good way to recreate that scene in “50 Shades of Grey” with the airplane. Because we all know that’s the only scene in that movie worth recreating.
