Tommy Hilfiger’s Raleigh Hotel in Miami will turn into a private club

Art Basel may have been a loud, rainy mess, but at least one person got a pretty sweet deal out of it.

Tommy Hilfiger, fashion designer and collaborator of Gigi Hadid (because who isn’t these days?) has decided to turn his Raleigh Hotel in Miami into a private club, Page Six reports. He made the deal during Aby Rosen’s dinner at Art Basel, when his wife Dee Ocleppo sat next to an unnamed real estate investor.

Hilfiger purchased the Art Deco hotel in 2014 for $56.5 million and then announced plans to renovate it in April this year. The renovations are still happening — Hilfiger says he plans on “bringing it up to its original glory, and keeping its DNA and its heritage intact”– but the Raleigh will become a “private club,” which we presume means you can no longer sneak into the lobby to ogle the crowd and use the bathroom anymore.

There aren’t many details about what the transformed club will be like, but we expect it will feature lots of models swimming in the hotel’s famous pool. The hotel is currently booked through the end of April, and then will close for eighteen months in May for renovations.

Hilfiger likes the Soho House model and plans to open more locations of Raleigh Club in New York, London and Los Angeles. So we all have that to look forward to.
